First impressions are important, so finding the right decorations for your front door is a tough task.

After a little internet research we found an image of a door wrapped up in a bow and decided to give it a go and document the process for you to have make it yourself at home!!

What you need:

  • Bow template
  • Card
  • Stapler
  • sellotape
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

The process:

Firstly we found a template online, if you would like to use the one we did you can find it at the bottom of this post, I am sure there are 100’s on the internet to use which will be made in a very similar way. Once we had the template we cut out the shapes, draw around them on card and then cut out ready to put together.

The first part of assembly is to fold each circular side in half so the tabs over lap, you will see each side of the bow take shape, then staple them together. If making a smaller bow you can cut this section as one and not as two halves of the bow and you simply fold each side to the centre and staple.

Over lap the two pieces of ‘ribbon’ for the bottom and staple, I held these behind the Bow to make sure they were roughly in the right position before hand. Next we need to attach the two sections.

To put the two pieces together I used super glue (as this is what we hand on hand), you can use PVA or paper glue also! I think you will agree it looks impressive for such a simple process!

-Try not to make the same mistake as me and get glue on your hands and then touch the card, it will leave a mark!

With the same glue I attached the bow to the ribbon, before hand I held the ribbon up against the door to make sure it would be at the height I wanted.

When the front door was open I taped the top of the ribbon with the bow on to the inside of the door panel. Then before it was attached I tied a second bit of ribbon around the width of the door and stapled each end together. Once the horizontal ribbon was in place I threaded the end of the ribbon with the bow under the door and taped onto the inside.
