We have already had decorated our front door, so obviously next is to work out How to decorate your windows for Christmas. I found so many great options for the windows I will try and do a few over the holiday period!

These hanging paper snowflakes can be hung anywhere, originally I saw them hung around someones Christmas tree as if they were falling, they had hung them off silver ribbon and clear wire and it looked great! I am going to hang them in the window instead.

What you need:

  • Paper/ card/ wrapping paper
  • Stapler
  • sellotape
  • Ribbon/ string/ wire to hang

The process:

We have used paper for our snowflakes as I wanted them to be white, but you can use any colour or material you want. I cut the paper into a square and then folded it diagonally and then diagonally again to make a small triangle. From there you cut lines diagonally through it as you can see below. I cut 6 squares at the beginning and did the steps one by one after.

When you golf your paper out it should look like the below with a chevron pattern.

This next step looks harder than it is! Using the tape fold in the cut sections and tape, as you do this you should alternate to tape them on either side of the central fold like below… See its easy 🙂

You want to repeat this process 6 times to make 6 sides of the snowflake.

Staple one end together in the middle. I did this in 2 sections, I arranged 3 facing the same way and stapled them, then the other three and then stapled each of these in the middle.

Now to attach each of the 6 sections to each other, I stapled the sides, once the snowflake is up you cant see the staples at all 🙂 You could also glue these remember this options will need time for drying.

Hole punch or cut a small hole for your ribbon/ string/ wire to to through and tie a loop at the end.

All you have left to do is hang it up! I have used duct tape for mine but you can use nails, adhesive hooks or any option easiest for you, if you are not opening your windows over the festive season you could hang them from within the sashes.

You can see I did a few of different sizes here, why don’t you experiment yourself too? Have fun!
